Vitamin deficiency especially vitamin D is widely common in the United States, the majority of the population believe that they aren't at risk due to the intake of foods that contains vitamin D. Actually these foods have not enough quantity levels of vitamin D naturally, even fortified foods do not contain enough vitamin D to support human health needs. Vitamin D is not a regular vitamin and obtains primarily through sun exposure.
Studies show that 50% to 70 % population has vitamin D deficiency, even infant and children of age 5 to 11 years.
It has also been studied that old population of age 60 and above have 90% vitamin D deficiency and need special care.

As you touch to the age of 50+, your skin couldn't make vitamin D from sunlight as required, kidneys couldn't convert vitamin D into a usable form, spending more time at indoor is also a reason of vitamin D deficiency.
Overweight
Body fat absorbs vitamin D, means as you gain weight your body needs more vitamin D to support muscles function.

People having muscles aches and bone pains, especially in combination with fatigue have symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency.
